August 8th: Scientific Readings
The festival begins with scientific readings at the “Ores” Apartments farm building. Experts will present research on aspects of Semigallian life, including ancient brooch traditions, demographics, unique burial practices, and the cultural environment of Lake VipÄ“de. This provides an opportunity to understand this ancient Baltic tribe.
August 9th: Events at Tērvete Wooden Castle
Events at the TÄ“rvete Wooden Castle grounds include a crafts market and ancient craft demonstrations. The day’s schedule includes the festival opening, the “Semigallian Brooch” exhibition, and a lecture on brooch usage. Additionally, there will be archery tournaments, bronze casting, and a discussion on ancient musical instruments. The day concludes with a Baltic Minor Nations and Livonian Knights Tournament. A “Rabbit Farm” will be available for children.
August 10th: Ancient Culture and Castle Re-enactment
The final day features the crafts market and craft demonstrations. The TÄ“rvete Wooden Castle exhibition will remain open, displaying Semigallian jewelry, clothing reconstructions, and ancient instruments. The program includes Livonian Order Knight fight demonstrations, a “Semigallians in Antiquity” competition, and performances by local folklore groups. The festival concludes with a staged “Attack on TÄ“rvete Castle.”
